Trying for a boy...

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Twice in one week
Random strangers, 1st time walking into CVS a customer exclaimed,
"Lord, how do you handle all those girls?"
"Are you going to try for a boy?"
Why does discussing personal matters with a complete stranger seem o.k. to these random weirdos?
I asked Rob if I had a sign plastered along my face,
"ask me about my reproductive cycle."
I can guarantee this person did not ask the same questions to the Jewish woman walking through Target with her five in tow.
Does anyone have smart one liner I could apply to these comments? Anyone?
"No mam, I left the five boys at home with the dog."

Take me out to the ball game

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Thanks to some friends for a family pack of tickets to see the Nationals team again SF Giants, Rob and I were split as to who to cheer for. We ended up wearing red for the Nationals
Peanuts
Sandwich wraps
munchies
beautiful overcast evening, cool enough that the kids were complaining about being cold
M brought her glove to catch a ball, there were a few home runs but not close enough for her to catch
I was so proud the family made it to sing "Take me out to the ballgame",
we then made a mad dash for the metro ride home

The kids favorite part of the game was watching George Washington and Teddy Rosevelt run a race around the field, George was knocked over at the end and couldn't get up...it was pretty funny

All good things

Sadly all good things must come to a end
I was ready after two fun filled weeks of vacation to return home
my children were not
Why does Dad have to work in Maryland?
Why can we not live by cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc...
Why can we not stay for 502 days Aubrey asked

So much fun, even Jo was crying

Thanks Mom and Dad's for putting up with the crew

I Wish I were a Pioneer

Monday, July 12, 2010

Do you even think about Pioneers?
My little ones were in heaven, a trip back in time
S was especially interested, her dream is to own a farm when she grows up
There was plowing the fields

Beating the dust out of rugs

Panning for gold

Don't forget to take time for a shave of the 5'oclock shadow

Amazement at horses using the restroom

Big boys on little horses

And exclaiming to dad that we need baby goats!

If you are ever in the SLC area and want to take a walk through farm life visit Pioneer Park. Give my sister a call, she bought the season pass and would love a few extra helping hands :)
It was a nice break to the vacation business we had been experiencing the past few weeks.

Rescue Hero's

Friday, July 9, 2010

One of the kids favorite things to see while in Utah is Uncle John's firehouse. They were able to watch the ladder truck pull into the station after responding to a call. Jocelyn even got in on the action this visit, climbing up the ladder and then trying to climb back down.

Pineview Fun

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

After some fun down south the fam headed up north for skiing, tubing, knee boarding and camping at Pineview. There are family memories here for me as this was the lake to go when I was a teenager. The kids really enjoyed themselves despite the lack of sand to play in and water temperatures hovering in the mid 60's

S learning to water ski with Rob. She was so close the last day we were there. A few more attempts and she would have been all over the lake
