Right Now

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Right now my life is a little bit of this...

(yesterday temps were in the high 90's. The girls came home from school begging for sprinklers)

and this...

and this...
(Aubrey attended Kindergarten orientation this past week. She said, "I am so happy I can't stop smiling.")
and a touch of this...
(As I was sitting down to breakfast this week Madison asked, "who invented cereal boxes". I responded that I didn't know. She then asked, "were they around when you were a little girl?" "Yes, Madison" I replied. She thought for a minute and then casually said, "wow, they are really old then.")
and don't forget this...
(M & S are continuing piano lessons and doing great. There are a few moments of grumbling but I think for the most part they enjoy piano)

and best of all this...
(one of those moments that make me smile)

Blessed Day

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Our family enjoyed a wonderful spring break week. Rob arrived home from a very long 11 day trip overseas and his parents came into town on Tuesday. We went from a very lonely house that a happy excited house, mom included. The week was full of fun activities. Grandpa and Rob built a zip line in our back yard, hopefully will get pics of that soon. We also made a trip to downtown D.C. We were able to see a portion of the newly renovated American History museum, watch a play in Ford's Theater and enjoy a drive through the mall area enjoying the beautiful cherry blossoms. Grandma & Grandpa Holman loved that drive.

(Waiting our turn to enter Ford's theater)

The excitement was building, waiting for the annual egg hunt. Saturday morning the Easter bunny awoke to the power being off and rain storms. Luckily he was able to sneak into the house with only the alarm awaking almost everyone and leave eggs scattered around the main floor and basement. It made it even more exciting for the girls to look for their eggs in the dark basement. After the egg hunt we dressed and headed out for breakfast. Thankfully by the time we arrived home the power had been restored and the ham and goodies in the fridge were once again being cooled. Sunday was a wonderful day with friends and family in town. We enjoyed Jocelyn's blessing at church and then headed home for a delicious Easter feast.

(Jocelyn is working on her one year food storage,

another month and I think those cheeks will be there)

'Octodog'

Thursday, April 2, 2009

Who needs 'Octomom' when you can have an 'Octodog'. Happy April Fools! I made these hotdog creations for dinner last night. They were a hit. Last year I tricked the girls with meatloaf/mashed potato cupcakes. Of course they remembered how much fun those were so
I was up to the challenge again this year. After dinner they were treated to homemade "sushi", yumm.

We are ready for a nice warm spring. It has been raining on and off for the last week, let the sunshine down and send the kids out to play.
Jocelyn had her two month check-up today. Her current weight is 13 pounds 3 ounces and 23 1/4 inches long. She is chugging along. While the doctor was checking her back she rolled over and was proud of herself when we all cheered for her.
