Going Buggy

Monday, September 21, 2009

I had to opportunity to take the girls to a "Kids Day" at our local 50 acre display garden. I am in heaven when I walk around the grounds. On this particular day my kids were in heaven. They offered at least 9 different stations throughout the grounds. The stations included face painting, creating "critter condos", bug bingo, painting, and a station with entomologists and their critters. This was the perfect week to learn about bugs. My 2nd graders are studying butterflies, bugs, and insects as part of their science term.

Help Wanted!

Is anyone in need of some extra hands for folding laundry?

It is amazing I get anything done around here.

Apple Business

Make the yearly pilgrimage to the "Big Apple." On S,M & A to do list
1. Spend their year's worth of allowance at the American Girl Doll Store
2. Ride in a taxi
3. Make a visit to Central Park, check out the Alice Statue
4. Eat free buffet breakfast in the hotel lobby
As you can see by the pictures below their wishes were granted.

Our first time visiting FAO Schwartz. Pic with the soldier, playing on the big piano, getting out of the torrential downpour of rain, legos for M and calico critters for S.

With a visit to NYC at least once a year I try and pick something new and fun for the girls and I to see. The Sony museum was recommended in a guide book. It was a great match. A rainy day, staying inside and having fun playing with computers and other gadgets. The girls and I were newscaster's and then watched our performance .

J and Rob enjoying a little bit of Italy. Took the girls to Little Italy during the San Gennaro festival. Lot's of carnival games, all the restaurants bring booths onto the street, gelato (yumm, took be back to Slovenia), cannolis' and fun for people watching.

J sitting atop the ropes holding the anchor down on the Intrepid Air Craft carrier. A air craft carrier museum docked on the east side of Manhattan. This was a great place for crawling, climbing, ducking and exploring.

Last day of the trip we took a ferry ride to Staten Island. Didn't have time to get off but that was the whole point of the trip, a free boat ride that took us right past the Statue of Liberty. As the boat was docking we were able to watch Marine One land nearby and President Obama walk off the coper. Kids thought that was AWESOME!

Playing at the park the last morning of our trip.
