San Francisco Treat

Monday, August 27, 2018

We started off the official portion of our home leave in San Francisco
This city will always hold a special place in my heart
Within 1 month of our families 1st year anniversary we were living here
It was an awesome place to learn, live and grow
It was just awesome to take our kids back to where the Holman family started

Landed from Dulles at 9am and hit the ground running
picked up the rental car and explored the city on a gorgeous sunny day

After a quick stop for lunch we made our way to Lombard street
The hydrangeas were in full bloom as we walked our way up the twisting street

Then it was onto the Golden Gate Bridge and the clouds started rolling in
I quoted Mark Twain on this trip about 101 times whenever my kids would complain about "how cold it is"

"The coldest winter I ever spent was my first summer in San Francisco"

Recreating a photo from 12 years ago
Gosh, where have my little ones gone???

We spent our time sleeping in Mill Valley in a just right house
Near everything and reminding us how gorgeous Marin County is
Let's not discuss housing prices in the area and that being the reason we moved

Early morning hike with a few of the kiddos

After hiking we went back to the house and rounded up the clan and ventured of for a morning exploring Muir Woods
Ohh, beautiful beautiful place
I love the tall tress and the peace and awesomeness of this place

The little had a ball scampering through the trees and roots and hiding place

Spent the afternoon reminiscing
Enjoy our absolute favorite sandwiches at Michael's sourdough
beside changing locating they are just as good as we remembered
Driving through Larkspur to see our first apartment
then onto Corte Madra to see apartment #2
and the first house we rented
and then onto the hospital that took such good care of our family during my
pre-term labor complications and delivery of my two peanuts

The next morning we said goodbye to Marin County
Packed up the car and spent the day exploring San Francisco
First stop was riding the trolley cars
which consisted of a line longer than a ride at Disney for almost the same price
It's the experience right
Once we boarded it really was a great ride with a entertaining driver

Stopping for clam chowder for a party of 1 and the rest of us enjoying Chipitole
and then boarding the boat for Alcatraz
something we missed seeing when we lived here

So long SF, hope to be back soon!
