a Quick trip

Friday, January 15, 2010

Made a quick trip up the Big Apple while the sisters were in town. M & S had been planning this trip for three years, after I attended Wicked for the first time. They heard the music and fell in love. I promised them for their eighth birthday I would take them to N.Y. to see the show. I guess I never thought my girls would turn eight, that is for old moms. I am now one of those "old moms" as my sister calls me with 2 eight year olds. The musical was of course "Wicked". So fun to see my little ones expressions as they were finally able to put the music with the stage.

We also fit in some time for shopping, eating NY pretzels, viewing Time Square at night, in the freezing night and consuming yummy Italian calories at Carmine's.

P.S. I drove into N.Y. city and back home and lived to tell about it!

A Visitor

Natalie, my twin sister separated at birth by a few years came into town for a visit. She was the first visitor in a very busy and fun filled couple of weeks. The girls and I tried to show her a few fun things while she was in town. Day trips included a visit to the Baltimore Aquarium, Arlington Cemetery, National Tree, Jefferson Monument, viewing lights at the local nature center, Holocaust Museum and a day at the American Museum. Jocelyn was diagnosed with a ear infection the next day, having a sick baby in a museum that echoes made for a quick trip.

Christmas, barely

Not sure if I can still post pictures from over a month ago. A little backlogged at the Holman house this month. I keep telling myself that things will slow down in February, a post this month is prof that things are slowing down.

Weather man predicted up to two feet of snow today. We don't belive the weather man at our house, in fact we usually belive the opposite of what he says.

I stopped at the grocery store and bought a few dozen eggs, just in case the weatherman was right this time. If I was stuck in the house for a week I wanted to accomplish my Christmas baking.

The family went to the temple last night to see the Christmas lights. As we were enjoying hot cocoa with friends a few flakes started to fall. By the time we were home the white stuff was sticking to the ground. By morning time there was a lot hanging around and it kept coming.

Morning wake up call

Rob checked at 2:00 p.m. and the tally was 15 1/2" and still counting. Final count will come tomorrow. The roads are covered, power still on, plently of eggs and a warm fire. I think I will start baking.
